Startups

Early in my career, I founded a medical clinic and enlarged it through five acquisitions before selling it to go to business school. The clinic had businesses embedded in it for a wellness program, a weight loss program, custom designed vitamins, and for clinical trial infrastructure. While at Penn I was CEO of a team that won the Silver Prize in the business plan competition and we worked on a bioinformatic startup, Genoma, for almost two years. This gave me a great practical background in statistics, genomics and the strategic choices that are necessary to develop a fledgling business with scarce capital. Because of my manifest entrepreneurial bent, I was selected to be Price Fellow in Entrepreneurship in my business school class which provided invaluable mentorship and training opportunities. Over my fifteen years on the buy side, I have evaluated hundreds of biotech IPO’s and seen which stories work and which management teams have succeeded.
